Last night I read a review by the excellent reviewer, MICHIKO KAKUTANI, in the NY Times about the world financial crisis by Joseph E. Stiglitz , someone I admire. The reviewer recommends most of Stiglitz's theories and history but in the end she mentions that he spoils it all by saying anyone who is not interested in a bigger bail out and government controlled agencies, is un-moral. And that this calling conservatives unmoral weakens the whole argument.
Makes me realize maybe I may need to get off my high and mighty liberal, progressive soap box. On another hand, the conservatives are a very mean and scary bunch. I see no real civil, purposeful discourse, just efforts to obfuscate and block the party in power's agenda. There I go, again.
Is there any hope to overcome this ugly way of politics? Ted Kennedy send us strength, please. And help us know facts and consensus rather than fear.
