Tonight is the full moon in the sign of Libra, the sign of balance and fairness.
Today hasn't felt too fair, hearing horrid stories of violence and remembering yet again that we have lost four dear friends in the last four weeks: John Keller, a great musician and man of enormous heart; Jim Conway, also a Viet Nam vet like John. Jim was Monterey, CA's city historian with a gentle kindness of bearing and passion for history; Coco Cunningham, an old high school friend, is gone now after a long illness and last, Bryce Taylor, author and practitioner in human development and compassion. Bryce was kind enough to quote me in his most recent book. His passing was sudden and I am still in shock and wondering how to connect better given that he lived (I can't believe I am using the past tense) in the UK. The one time we were to meet in the US, I was in hospital for cancer surgery.
Life is very challenging for me and many right now. I am grateful it is spring time and that we here on the Central Coast have had abundant rains and the flowers are as glorious as I can remember, especially rhodedendrons. I must go visit the garden dedicated to Pat Peden at the art museum, La MIrada, soon and remember those that are gone now.
As a way to lighten life I am going to post a picture of the Hindu Goddess Lashmi, who a friend says is the Goddess of abundance and well being. May your life be full of the light of this Goddess.
